Currently Hiring a Saw Operator
Overview
We are seeking a Saw Operator to join our dynamic fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various saws and cutting equipment to produce high-quality components. This role requires a strong attention to detail, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. If you have experience in machining and a passion for precision work, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities:
Operate saws and cutting machines to cut materials according to specifications.
Assemble components as needed, ensuring accuracy and quality.
Ability to read a tape measure.
Perform basic maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Fabricate parts as required, following engineering drawings and instructions.
Conduct quality checks on finished products to maintain high standards.
Experience:
Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in operating saws or similar machinery.
Familiarity with laser cutting techniques is a plus.
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to production tasks.
Experience in welding or fabrication is advantageous.
Previous experience in machining or manufacturing environments is preferred.

Starting Pay: $19.00 (little experience) - $22.00 (experience)

Job Overview
Evans Metal is now hiring fabricators. We seldom have layoffs and we don’t make the same part over and over again. We make unique parts that go into construction projects in the Midwest. We make all sorts of fabrication from structural steel that support buildings to ornamental products such as railings, canopies, and stairs. We fabricate in Stee, Stainless, Aluminum and occasionally Bronze.
We are looking for people to cut parts (saw, CNC, Plasma and shear) and make small parts.
We are looking for fabricators who can assemble the part by welding, and drilling.
To help you learn you will be expected to take a class from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) about fabrication. Raises are earned as you learn and show you will apply what you learn.
The One basic Skill you need to prove:
You must know how to read a Ruler
We will teach and refine other skills needed.
Skills that will be helpful
Read and understand more complicated blueprints
Patience – we are flexible and need you to be flexible as well.
Thinking ahead.
Use of hand tools, machines, and/or welders to assemble parts.
Use of a variety of tools and machines, such as tape measures, welders, grinders, digital protractors, jobbers, combination squares, brake presses, punches and dies, drills, and more.
Experience using a forklift for heavy loading and unloading is a plus.

Client & External Communication
Serve as a point of contact for customers, contractors, and partners
Communicate professionally and clearly regarding: Status updates, RFIs and clarifications, Scheduling coordination, Maintain responsiveness and follow-through on all communication, RFI, Submittal & Document Coordination
Manage RFIs, submittals, and transmittals using: EPM (primary system), Tekla (for drawings and reference)
Ensure all documents are: Submitted correctly, Tracked and followed up on, Organized and stored properly
Coordinate with drafting and customers to ensure approvals are moving forward
File & Information Management
Maintain organized file structures across: Internal file server, Google Drive
Ensure all project-related documents are: Properly named, Saved in correct locations, Easy for others to access
Maintaining file consistency is a required part of this role and is not optional.
Shop Coordination
Work closely with the Shop Supervisor to: Align project timelines with shop workload, Communicate drawing updates and approvals, Address any production issues
Ensure the shop has what they need: Approved drawings, Clear scope, Updated information
Project Tracking & Follow-Up
Monitor progress across multiple active jobs
Follow up on: Open RFIs, Pending approvals, Missing information, Client responses
Keep projects from stalling by staying on top of outstanding items
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience
Prior project management experience in construction or fabrication preferred
Experience with steel, metals, or structural work strongly preferred
Ability to manage multiple active jobs without losing organization
Technical Skills
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
Familiarity with: Tekla (preferred), EPM or similar document systems, Outlook (email communication), Excel (basic organization/tracking)
Communication & Team Fit
Strong communication skills — both internal and external
Must work well in a team-first environment
