Materials & Finishes

Materials and finishes are based on access requirements, environmental exposure, and applicable safety standards. Ladder systems are fabricated to engineered drawings and governing specifications to ensure safe access, durability, and long-term performance.

  • Best For - Most interior and protected industrial ladder applications.
Why It’s Used - Strong, durable, and well‑suited for welded ladder construction and structural attachment.
Common Applications - Alternating step ladders, vertical ladders, ladder platforms, cages, brackets, and support framing.
Note - Requires protective coating for exterior or high‑moisture environments. Common Grades - ASTM A36, A53 (pipe), A500 (HSS)

  • Best For - Applications requiring corrosion resistance and reduced weight.
Why It’s Used - Naturally corrosion resistant and often selected for utility, rooftop, or non-sparking environments.
Common Applications - Vertical ladders and ladder components where specified. Common Alloys - 6061-T6 and 6063-T5 when specified.

  • Best For - Corrosive, wash‑down, or specialized industrial environments.
Why It’s Used - Enhanced corrosion resistance where required by process or specification.
Common Applications - Ladder systems in food processing, chemical, water treatment, or sanitary facilities when specified. Common Grades - 304 and 316 when specified.

ladder Materials:

ladder types & configurations:

  • Designed for steep access where space is limited, providing safer ascent and descent than traditional vertical ladders while maintaining a compact footprint.

  • Fixed ladders fabricated for roof, equipment, mezzanine, and platform access in industrial facilities.

  • Vertical ladder systems with safety cages provided where required for elevated access, in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.

  • Platforms, walk-offs, and transition landings fabricated to support safe entry and exit from ladder systems.

  • Best For - Interior ladder systems or ladders receiving field‑applied coatings.
Applied after fabrication to provide temporary corrosion protection prior to installation. Important Note - Shop primer is intended to reduce rust during handling and shipping and is not a final finish unless specifically noted in project specifications.

  • Best For - Exterior ladders and harsh or high‑moisture environments.
Provides long‑term corrosion resistance for industrial access systems. Steel is typically galvanized in accordance with ASTM A123 (fabricated components) and ASTM A153 (hardware) where specified. Appearance Note - Hot-dip galvanizing prioritized corrosion protection and results in a non uniform, industrial appearance.

  • Best For - Facilities requiring high‑visibility, safety identification, color-coding, or additional corrosion protection.
Often specified for operational or safety requirements. May include epoxy, intermediate, and topcoat paint systems, applied in-house or per project specifications.
