Materials & Finishes
Materials and finishes are selected based on gate size, expected use, environmental exposure, and long-term durability requirements. Gate systems are fabricated for project specifications to ensure structural integrity, proper operation, and coordination with hardware and access control systems.
-
Best For - Most pedestrian and vehicular gate frames, posts, and structural members.
Why It’s Used - Strong, versatile, and well‑suited for welded gate fabrication and hardware integration.
Common Applications - Gate frames, posts, bracing, hinge supports, hardware mounting plates, and structural infill framing. Note - Requires a protective finish for exterior exposure. Common Grades - ASTM A36, A500 (HSS), A53 (pipe) -
Best For - Exterior environments where corrosion resistance is critical.
Why It’s Used - Provides long‑term corrosion protection for exposed gate systems.
Important Note - Galvanizing can affect finish smoothness and dimensional tolerances and may require fabrication and hardware selections that accommodate the galvanizing process. Standards - Typically galvanized per ASTM A123 (fabricated steel) and ASTM A153 (hardware) where specified. -
Best For - Specialty exterior or architectural applications requiring corrosion resistance and a refined appearance.
Why It’s Used - Durable, corrosion‑resistant option where specified by design or environment. Common Applications - Entry gates, specialty infill panels, hardware interfaces, or architectural accent elements. Common Grades - 304 / 304L and 316 / 316L when specfied.
Gate Materials:
Gate types & design options:
-
Single‑leaf gates fabricated for controlled access points within fencing systems, courtyards, and secured perimeters.
-
Gates fabricated for drive lanes, service entrances, security checkpoints, and controlled vehicle access areas.
-
Sliding gate systems fabricated for sites requiring controlled access where swing clearance is limited or impractical.
-
Architectural gates fabricated to complement surrounding site features , fencing, and entry aesthetics.
-
Vertical pickets or bars
Solid panels or privacy infill
Decorative cut patterns, when used as architectural metal
-
Best For - Gates receiving field‑applied coatings or final paint systems.
Applied after fabrication to provide temporary corrosion protection prior to installation. Important Note - Shop primer is intended to reduce rust during handling and shipping and is not a final finish unless specifically noted in project specifications. -
Best For - Architectural gates requiring consistent color and a durable finish.
Important Note - Powder coating over galvanized surfaces may not present as smooth as powder coating over raw steel - expectations should be established early when specified. Color Considerations - Powder coat colors are typically selected from RAL standard color ranges; specialty colors may be limited. Metallic powders often require a clear coat for consistency and durability. -
Best For - Exterior gates requiring long‑term corrosion protection. Commonly specified for perimeter and exposed gate systems.
Fabrication and hardware coordination is required to support galvanizing requirements and proper post-installation operation.

Fabrication & Installation
Gate systems are fabricated in-house and coordinated with site conditions, post locations, and surrounding fence or masonry interfaces. When required, we support field dimensions and installation coordination to ensure proper fit, swing/slide clearance, and reliable operation at the finished site.
